Ms. Sheila Mohan creates an endowment for a lecture series with CPP @ IIM Bangalore

The family of Prof. M. R. Krishnamurthy wished to commemorate his life and accomplishments in a manner that was consistent with his interests, background and values. After exploring several options, the family decided to create an endowment in his name at IIM -B, an institution that he had great respect for.

His daughter Ms. Sheila Mohan has created an endowment to fund an annual lecture series by distinguished speakers who had done extensive research related to Bengaluru and the challenges facing the city. Prof Hema Swaminathan the Chairperson of the Centre for Public Policy CPP) at IIMB accepted the check and expressed her gratitude to Ms. Mohan for such a donation and said that the endowment will help further the Centre’s academic activities.

About Prof. Krishnamurthy – He spent his entire career teaching textile technology at the Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute (SKSJTI) and retired as Principal of the same institution.  He was born in Bengaluru, and except for a few years spent in pursuing higher studies in Manchester, U.K., lived most of his life in Bengaluru.   He loved the city and everything that the dear city of his time represented – pleasant weather, vigorous urban energy, and a focus on the future.  In discussions with staff at IIM-B, we felt the importance of highlighting all these elements in the endowment program.
