NSE-IPFT and IIM Bangalore launch Platform for Investor Education. | National Stock Exchange Limited Investor Protection Fund Trust (NSE IPFT) and IIM Bangalore (IIMB) jointly launched the Platform for Investor Education (PIE), at IIM Bangalore. The launch of this unique platform is a result of synergy between NSE’s Investor Protection Fund Trust (NSE IPFT) and IIM Bangalore’s Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management (CCMRM). NSE IPFT promotes research in the field of capital markets and carries out diverse activities in the area of investor education. Mizuho Bank & Indo-Japan Study Centre | On a visit to IIM Bangalore on 6th November, facilitated by Prof. D. Krishna Sundar, Chair of the India Japan Study Centre at IIMB, Mr. Koji Fujiwara, President and CEO of Mizuho Bank, spoke of the opportunity to enhance Mizuho Bank’s engagement with the India Japan Study Centre (IJSC) at IIMB. Interacting with IIMB faculty at the IJSC, and at IIMB’s incubation and innovation centre, NSRCEL, Mr. Fujiwara expressed “great pleasure and honour to be at an excellent school like IIMB” and lauded the G2G relationship initiated by the Prime Ministers of India and Japan. “This would be the foundation to further enhance the private sector relationship in the future,” he said, “Indians as very talented people with great expertise,” he told the students of IIMB, whom he addressed later in the morning. “Start your business and contribute the society and change your world with a focus on the three “ships” – namely, Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Partnership”. Toshiba supports the Indo-Japan Study Centre @ IIM Bangalore | Toshiba Software (India) Pvt Ltd has a strong relationship with IIMB for more than 5 years now, IIMB has been assisting & supporting Toshiba in making few case studies for the internal training for use within Toshiba and it is considered to be the preeminent of the entire Training Curriculum. Further, the company was inspired by various activities that Institute is currently undertaking, during the discussions with Prof. Krishna Sundar and wanted to contribute for the enhancement of the activities under this program of the IIMB. Thus, Toshiba has started to play a key role in helping IJSC to meet its goals. The seeds were planted over years ago through IIMB’s training and research work at Toshiba Software (India) and their unstinted support for hosting our students at Toshiba Japan is maturing into a strong and stable relationship. Ms. Sheila Mohan creates an endowment for a lecture series with CPP @ IIM Bangalore | The family of Prof. M. R. Krishnamurthy wished to commemorate his life and accomplishments in a manner that was consistent with his interests, background and values. After exploring several options, the family decided to create an endowment in his name at IIM -B, an institution that he had great respect for. His daughter Ms. Sheila Mohan has created an endowment to fund an annual lecture series by distinguished speakers who had done extensive research related to Bengaluru and the challenges facing the city. Prof Hema Swaminathan the Chairperson of the Centre for Public Policy CPP) at IIMB accepted the check and expressed her gratitude to Ms. Mohan for such a donation and said that the endowment will help further the Centre’s academic activities. Dell, Intel & MicraLand Fund the Aritra Leadership Accelerator Program at IIMB | The companies - Dell India Pvt Limited, Intel Technology India Pvt Limited and MicroLand Ltd have all funded the the Aritra Leadership Accelerator Program at IIMB. They have particularly funded the women candidates for this program. Aritra is a 12-month intensive, part-time, fast-track leadership learning journey for mid-to-senior leaders in the social sector. The program equips them with knowledge, perspectives and networks, to help build strong organisations, a network of collaborative influence and drive scalable and sustainable social impact. Leader capacity is built in myriad ways – through residential sessions at IIM-B, on-line courses, coaching sessions, mentor conversations, peer exchanges and a real-time organizational project that the Fellows work on through the course of the program. IBM Research - India sponsors a Conference @ IIM Bangalore | The Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at IIM Bangalore, in association with IBM Research – India, organised ‘Research AI Day’. The Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at IIM Bangalore, in association with IBM Research – India , organised ‘Research AI Day’ recently at IIMB. The theme of the event was ‘Usable Artificial Intelligence’ featuring expert speakers from academia and industry, a panel discussion, quizzes, demos, posters and tutorials for students and practitioners of AI. The program aimed to showcase the current trends in AI, what it takes to do research in AI, and applications of AI such as AI & Law, AI & Heath, AI & Education, AI & Retail, AI & Fashion, Adversarial AI, AI : Ethics & Responsible Use, AI & Privacy, AI & Policy/Govt, Dangers of Data etc. The event also witnessed the launch of the book, titled, ‘Machine Learning using Python’, by Professor U Dinesh Kumar and Manaranjan Pradhan, IIM Bangalore. BSE, Bajaj Finserv & Mcgraw Hill sponsor the first edition of the ARC Conference @ IIMB | The Bombay Stock Exchange, Bajaj Finserv Pvt Ltd and Mcgraw Hill Education (India) Pvt Ltd sponsored the first edition of the Accounting and Research Conference (ARC) held on 26 – 27 July 2019 at IIM Bangalore. The conference seeks to bring together the foremost researchers in accounting and capital markets from the most reputed educational institutions around the world. It will provide an informal setting for stimulating discussions on the latest and most relevant work in the field of accounting and finance. Among the topics that will be discussed are banking sector disclosures, exchange-traded funds, insider trading, price-earnings relations, and macroeconomic forces. The conference will promote cross-country exchanges of best practices and spur the growth of accounting research based on topics in India. Sundaram BNP Paribas Home Finance Limited sponsors construction of disabled friendly infrastructure @ IIMB | Sundaram BNP Paribas Home Finance Limited, contributed towards providing and improving infrastructure facilities to become disabled friendly. As part of their CSR initiative, the company donated towards construction of disable friendly infrastructure at IIMB. The company contributed to aid IIMB’s effort in making a few remaining parts of the campus disable friendly. The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) endeavours to remove all barriers that prevent students with disabilities from realizing their potential. The objective is to provide “equal opportunity” for all students. IIMB commits to a time-bound programme to remove all barriers to access faced by students with disabilities. In one such successful partnership with Sundaram BNP Paribas Home Finance Limited, IIMB has tweaked the infrastructure to make it disable compliant. As part of this project, certain construction was carried out at the executive block at IIMB. |
