At IIMB, Centers of excellence are set up for interdisciplinary work in emerging focus areas. These centers work across the entire spectrum of research, teaching and policy making, interacting closely with industry, other academic institutions and government. We also have initiatives and labs that are focused on specific activities.
Existing and new Centres and Labs / Initiatives are open to naming rights and large institutional donors will find immense value in having a strong association between the causes they wish to champion and the expertise that IIMB gets to the table.
Capital Markets & Risk Management
The vision of the Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management is to provide academic leadership in research and teaching on Indian Capital Markets. It provides sources of existing research on Indian capital markets to scholars interested in the region and to publish original research carried out at IIMB
Corporate Governance & Citizenship
This Centre brings the multidisciplinary contributions of various faculties under a single umbrella to improve the understanding of Governance, which encompasses Ethics and all aspects of Responsible Business and Sustainability. The Centre also provides policy support to the Government of India, encouraging debate and dissemination of information and engaging in ongoing research on contemporary topics. It engages with academia, industry and with the not-for-profit sector.
CCGC welcomes support for the Centre’s activities involving Research, Education, Training, Advocacy and Dissemination from Companies and Foundations.
India-Japan Study
IIMB’s India-Japan study center emphases on activities aimed at stimulating, strengthening and sustaining Indo-Japanese academic-business interactions. The Centre aims to become a leading research and networking hub that would provide students, researchers, business managers and policy makers with a deeper understanding of Japanese and Indian business.
Israel
With increase in business collaboration between India and Israel, some areas of opportunity, which need deeper academic and managerial involvement, are emerging. These include understanding of technology innovation, business strategy and history, government policies and culture. This Centre of excellence provides the scope for collaborations amongst academic institutions between the two countries.
NSRCEL
NSRCEL brings incubated start-ups, co-working ventures, industry mentors, eminent academicians and researchers to work together. It Also focuses on continuous interaction between theory and practice. Their focus areas include women entrepreneurs, for profit ventures, student run ventures and social ventures. Some of their programs also include launch pads, incubation and mentorship for startups. The activities at NSRCEL are supported by Governmental, Corporate and other Institutional partners.
Software & IT Management
The Centre for Software and Information Technology Management (CSITM) consolidates research, consulting, teaching and training efforts on management issues concerning the Indian and Global Software Industry, while fostering close links with the software industry. The activities of the Centre are guided by an Advisory Board, which sets policies and directions of development for the center.
Supply Chain Management
IIMB has been actively pursuing Supply Chain Management as a major area of teaching and research. The Centre builds upon the strengths of IIMB in research, education, and integration of inter-functional business disciplines to serve as a valuable knowledge-generating resource and contributes to development of cutting-edge strategies and practical solutions to problems encountered by organizations in the management of end-to-end supply chains.
Teaching & Learning
The Centre for Teaching and Learning at IIM Bangalore has been set up to understand evolving best practices of teaching and learning and to disseminate such understanding for increasing teaching effectiveness. The Centre conducts teaching workshops for faculty and doctoral students, acting as a national resource for improving the standards of teaching in institutes of higher education.
Public Policy
The Centre for Public Policy (CPP) is an independent public interest-oriented policy think tank engaged in pioneering research, teaching, training and capacity-building. The Centre – established in 2000 through a partnership agreement between the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India (GoI), United Nations Development Programme and IIMB – aspires to lead policy-thinking and praxis in India, promoting equitable, inclusive and sustainable solutions to the concerns of citizens and public governance.The twin of objectives of the Centre to influence policy discourse and improve governance are achieved through rigorous research and stakeholder engagement across domains. Its strong evidence-based research has focused on government innovations, regulation, policy-making, administrative and organisational reform, public-private partnerships and IT in government.
Management Communication
The Centre for Management Communication is a unique endeavour to establish a base for research and practice in the Indian management communication space. The Centre functions both as an Academic Area as well as a Centre for conducting research activities and events in the field of management communication. This hitherto unserved niche in the management education segment will address the needs of all its participants, including, and not limited to, students, educators, corporate practitioners, entrepreneurs and government. Within IIMB, the activities of the Centre will focus on the development of new courses for students, executive education and teachers, teaching aids and courseware based on existing scholarly research in communication sciences as well as fresh India-based research and practice.

Behavioural Lab
The Behavioural Sciences Lab at IIMB is designed to conduct experimental research on topics of basic and applied interest. The lab provides a controlled environment for data collection for behavioural research. The main aim of the lab is to ensure rigour and contribute to excellence in academic research.
Initiatives on Consumer Insights
The objective of this initiative is to study consumers and markets, especially all aspects of consumer behaviour covering attitudes, preferences, beliefs, purchase and use related to products and services, so as to further enhance our understanding of consumers and create value for customers, employees, businesses, and the society through new and /or improved offerings, processes, and sustainable business models.
Data Centre and analytics Lab
DCAL aims to simplify decision making in this era of growing volumes and varieties of data. It is a three-point platform – a data warehouse, a developer of analytical solutions and an analytics training hub. We are one of the pioneers to focus research on advanced Data Science, Business Analytics and Intelligence.
IIMB-RERI (IIMB-Real Estate Research Initiative)
Real Estate Research Initiative (RERI) is aimed to evolve into a world-class Centre of Excellence that conducts scientific and inter-disciplinary research on the Indian real estate sector. The research is published in leading academic and practitioner journals and is expected to provide guidance and policy prescriptions to government and industry stakeholders on major issues relating to the sector.
